The after effects of Okie - Vegas

OKIE-VEGAS storms the Riverwind

I had the distinct pleasure and honor of meeting several bloggers for the first time last night for a freindley little game of 1/2 NL at Riverwind Casino in Norman OK. This distinguished tabled included the following:

tripjax in the 1 seat
Several different poor souls in the 2 seat
yours truly in the 3 seat
Gary Carson in the 4 seat
Im23skidoo in the 5 seat
GCox25 in the 6 seat
Maudie in the 7 seat
surflexus in the 8 seat
katitude in the 9 seat

So here is the breakdown of the game by the numbers

1 - was what table we were playing at

2 - the number of times sets lost at the show down, once the dreaded set over set, second time the dreaded gutshot suckout

3 - the number of people that I doulbled up at one point or another

4 - thenumber of poor souls that sat down with us then left a lot lighter in the Bank Roll

5 - the number of times the hammer dragged the pot

6 - the number of stacks TripJax had after played his KK on the button to perfection against my 1010 in the BB on 786 flop

7 - the number of times I heard SO CO referenced to

8 - the number of dealers that we had

9 - the number of times the word Donkey was used

1000 - the laughs heard and memories created

Have a great weekend and I leave you with this, the next time you sit down at the felt I hope, no I wish that you find this guy sitting there as well.

This picture is real - not doctored in any way and was taken by a Transportation Supervisor for a company that delivers building materials for 84 Lumber. While the plywood and 2X4's are fairly obvious, what you can't see is the back seat, which contains - are you ready for this? 10 bags of concrete @ 80 lbs. each. They estimated the load weight at 3000 lbs. Both back tires exploded, the wheels bent and the rear shocks were driven through the floorboard.

I dont want to play this guy in a game of Poker either!

Bloody Wednesday

One of the worst days online in quite a while. In the Cash Games I was stacked several times. My draws never got there, my sets were sucked out on, KK in the BB vs an aggressive button with AA, and donkeys who don't go beyond level one thinking. I am going to stick to nut pedalling, people cant lay down top pair at any level.

M00k was fun but brutal. I got chastised by an individual for calling an All In Re raise with A6 on 457 flop, when I knew he more than likely had just an overpair. I had him covered, and even if I missed still would have had 12 plus BB. I hit and cruised into the break in the top 5, second hour was just horrendous. I knocked out a few people and was sitting firmly in the top 5 when the wheels came off. I can't remember the details, but I know I double up a shorty when I bet my top pair on Qxx flop from the SB and he just happened to have bottom 2. I doubled up a mid stack when I re raised from the button with AK out flopped their JJ only to see them river a set. And the fatal blow was this hand. I was in the BB with a 6h2h, limped in MP and the SB folds, I check and we see a flop of 8h2cXh. I bet the pot which was about 1/4 of my stack and the limper who has me covered slightly pushes, I call because there is no way I am getting away from 14 out twice. The limper turns over 9x9h for the over pair, turn card is Xh, river is Xh and I am runner runner counterfeited for the higher flush. Fawk me!!!

During the M00K i was also playing the 50/50 I was consistently hanging around the top 30 through the 2nd break. I had been catching cards and was moved to a table were I was the chipleader. We were starting to get close to the bubble blinds were 300/900/25 and a MP raised to 900. The MP was the 2nd largest stack with about 12K, I had 14K. I have AQ on the button and decide it is time for the patent pending Hoy Re-Steal, so knowing that the MP will have to fold anything but AA, KK, QQ since the bubble approaches. Rule number in online poker

The MP Insta Calls with 99, I mean he never even thought about it. I would have been different if I had been showing down chit cards but image was OK. I had been bullying the table but I had not shown down one single crap hand. I didn't improve was crippled but managed to make the money but Cheeze and Rice how do you make that call.

So that was that. I might head down to RiverWind Casino tonight and hook up with Bloggers who are in for Okie-Vegas.

That is Just Wrong - Names Gone Wrong

Going to try to play the M00k tonight and the 50/50 if I can. Hope to see ya there

Why you should fold KK on a River Bet

He called bets all the way to the river, then fired 1/3 pot bet when the J hit the river. I knew I was beat with his AJ but the inner donkey in me paid him off. This is why I continue to be a donater in big MTT.

Speaking of Donkeys, yours truly manage a to Bucklox one last night at $2-$4 table.

Why you never fold KK preflop in Donkament

If looks like AA, smells like AA it must be JJ in Donkament. I still cant believe I folded to the re re raise.
Finished 4th in the Mook last night and I am OK with how I played. To be honest when we got down to 6 handed I was tired and since I found out my vacation was going to be cut short since my Boss quit (yea!) I took gambles to break people. This obviously didn't work out in my favor but all in all I am happy with my play.

Table 173 - Seat 6 for about 4hours

Most of you probably heard that I failed to make it into day 2, well here is how it went down.

Table draw was a pretty good mix of no names with one name I recognized David Angel . For the first couple of orbits is was raise and take with the one seat and nine seat being the aggressors. I played about 3 hands, flopping a set 10s, checking raising on a bluff with KQ sooted on a 8xx board and Cbet AK on a Kxx flop, this allowed me to get to about 23K and then I played a big pot with the aggressive one seat. He had raised my blind about three times and I decided to reraise 3x with AKo, he called. I CBet XdXdX flop and was called again, turn was check check. At this point I had on AJ-AK then the 3d hit the river, he made a pot sized bet that I called thinking that my read was still correct and that he was just making a stab and I was spot on with my read AK however they were both diamonds and I was now around 13K. From there I battled back up to about 18K prior to the first break by playing 8d5d on the button after 4 players limped and I was able to get the right odds to fill my straight on the river when one of Steve Danneman's home game buddies only bet about 1/5 of the pot on the turn.

Hour 3 started off promising with me finding AA and re raising David Angel's UTG raise, he pondered but laid it down which was a bit disappointing but brought me back to almost 20k. I tried limping in MP with 55 but folded to raise 600 and Button re-raise 2000, even though my implied odds were there I didn't want to gamble 1/10 my stack out of position. About 30 minutes passed and I had dwindled down to about 16K when I founder two black Jacks UTG, I made it 600 go and UTG +2 smoothed called, BB and SB both folded. Now my read on the UTG + 2 was neutral, he hadn't been outline but was a little more active than most of the people at the table, he had a stack of 20-22 k. The was 3h2h2d and I lead 1200 and am confused when I get min raised up to 2000. I couldn't put him on a 2, so my initial read was AK maybe of heart draw or 55-1010, I needed more information so I re-raised him to 6000, he thought for a second and called. With about 8000 left I was faced with a decision when the Qd hit the turn, I thought for a minute but my read was still mid pair or flush draw, he could have the AQ hearts but I decided that I was going to continue to represent my big hand I pushed all in, he insta called with two red Aces, another Q on the river and I hit the rail very disappointed. His hand that caught me by suprise considering the way the hand played out with him not re raising preflop, I guess I understand the smooth call of the RR on the flop, because it would be hard for him to not be convinced his hand was a head but he definitely gave a great chance to catch another Jack or get a way from the hand if an Ace or K heart or even a 5-10 hits, the Qd was one the few cards I felt couldn't have helped his hand.

All in all I very disappointed and discouraged, I played some 2-5 the next day for a few hours but all in all that was about it. I did enjoy meeting fuel and cmitch but unfortunately didn't get to meet lucko or chad.

I will hopefully hook up with a few of the bloggers that are coming to Okie Vegas next week.

Thanks once again for all the text messages and emails of support.
