Never give up!

I am still in a self imposed exile from Full Tilt until after the first of year. I have played donked around at Bodog the last few days, until my KK went down QQ. I am just sorta meh on poker right now, but I saw this motivational video and it inspired me to set some goals and never give up. Enjoy

We are Moved In

I am moved in but a long way from settled. I continue my self exclusion from online poker for at least 30 more days, I needed the break because lord knows I have enough going on in my life. I did play in the "Big Slick" at Riverwind last Sunday. This was a $300 buyin event that had 196 entrants, unfortunately I couldn't get anything going, lost most of my stack with a M of less than 10 when I push pocket fours in LP to 3 limper and the UTG limp called with his AA. I busted out the next orbit in about 90th when my KQ<KJ all in pre.

I promise to get some photos up soon, I just have to find the box that has the camera in it.

The Day Is Here.

Yep I am still alive, just been a couple crazy days, weeks, months here.

Poker front: Online I am on a self imposed exile until after the 1st of the year, live been playing very sparingly but I do have a big tournament at one of the local casinos on Sunday.

Work is crazy right now, my company is selling on of its divisions and this will mean layoffs. While I am bout 95% sure that I am not in the cross hairs, several co-workers are so the stress and tension is absolutely insane right now.

Today is the start of moving day, our new house is supposed to be finished up today. The last few days it has looked like the filming of extreme home makeover, at one point I counted 4 different crews working on the house at the same time. I will post some photos soon, but hopefully many of you can see it in person during Okie Vegas 2009.

If I don't get a chance to post again until after the holiday, my family wishes you and all of yours a very Happy Thanksgiving.

I'll Be there, will you?

I also have to do the fatherly thing and post some picks of my boy.

Also house update, move in 4 weeks most likely the week of Thanksgiving, I will post photos next week when painting is completed.

Poker Savvy Review

I made a promise to myself that I wanted to try to fill some leaks in my game especially in the MTT s. In order to accomplish this I decided to watch some videos. I was a member of PokerXfactor last year but let my membership lapse and I didn't want to have to pay the $149 initial membership fee again. So I looked at PokerSavvy Plus because they have a 7 Day Free membership with no initial membership charge. Now unlike some sites that give you 5 minutes of teasers PokerSavvy Plus give you complete access to all of the videos for the free for 7 days, if you decide you like what you see, the cost is about $25 bucks. The one thing I do miss is a hand replayer, however the quality of the videos and instructors makes up for this. One other thing the videos can be downloaded into various formats including Ipod, and windows player.

I blame Waffles, Et Al

You are The Emperor

Stability, power, protection, realization; a great person.

The Emperor is the great authority figure of the Tarot, so it represents
fathers, father-figures and employers. There is a lot of aggression and violence
too.

The Emperor naturally follows the Empress. Like an infant, he is filled with enthuiasm, energy, aggression. He is direct, guileless and all too often irresistible. Unfortunately, like a baby he can also be a tyrant. Impatient, demanding, controlling. In the best of circumstances, he signifies the leader that everyone wants to follow, sitting on a throne that indicates the solid foundation of an Empire he created, loves and rules with intelligence and enthusiasm. But that throne can also be a trap, a responsibility that has the Emperor feeling restless, bored and discontent.

Sunday $750K sats

On a whim I entered a $3.30 double shoot out with 81 players and only 1st getting the $216 entry into the $750K, about an hour half latter boom.

Then I turned $13.75 into $26 token and played another $750K sat with a guaranteed 5 seats and about an hour and half later boooom

I promptly unregistered and banked the T$432 with a total investment of $17.05. Probably should play the $750K but I am tired from a late nite at the Casino and I just don't think I can focus for a long grind in big tourney.

Get Big or Go Home

I have taken flack for my play style during MTT, especially "Donkaments" but I will pooosh anytime I feel I have the edge, and I will call all in anytime I feel I am in a coin flip and winning the flip will give me a huge stack so I can play big stack poker.

With that being said, I feel like last night I played some of my best MTT poker in a long time. Even though I didn't win the M00K, I didn't "lose" it either. I just ran pocket 66s on the button into IronGirls AA 3 handed, and then I ran Q7 on a 887Q board into 58 3 handed. Either time I am not getting away from those hands 3 handed.

Now go give so MAD Props to Waffles. It is one thing to throw out crazy statements, it is another thing to put your money where your mouth is and then back it up.

How would you play this hand?

Live Cash Game Hand from my home game 1/2 NL

I am the big stack at the table with about $400 behind and is SB with JJ
UTG calls with about $80 behind
EP makes it $10 with about $25 more behind
EP +1 smooth calls with about $35 more behind
Button smooth calls with about $40 more behind

What do you do.

Call and see the flop?
Push, but be certain you will get called by all 3 of the short stacks and possibly the EP limper?
Fold?

M00K Recap

I caught some cards early and took a decent pot against Joanada when I turned a straight flush draw and then caught my flush and she made a crying call with 2 pair. I also chipped up against Miami Don with my "redonkulus play" as he put. It was midway through the 2nd hour and I was big stack at the table. I was in MP and I made a steal bluff attempt with A8 off. Don smooth called on the button and the BB called as well. The flop was X98 with 2 hearts and I CBet(350) with my middle pair, Don re-raised to about 1100 leaving about himself about $2k. I couldn't put him on a hand other than semi bluff with a flush draw, so I pushed and he insta called with AJ of hearts, blanked out and I was back in the lead.

From there I hovered in the top 6 until we reached the final table. At the final table I donked off 60% of my chips with a bluff when a calling station called me all the way down to the river with A5 on a Ace high flop. Stupid move.

I was able to chip back against Waffles twice. First time I had JJ and caught him trying to resteal my raise, 2nd time (I think we were 6 handed) he double me up when I made a Raise with KhQh, flop was Qxx and I made a weakish looking Cbet and he re-raised me, I pooshed and he was committed with his pocket 10s.

It was around this time I decided I might have a chance so I fired up the screen hunter and snapped a few shots. This hand put me back in the chip lead for good, when I caught the nut straight on the turn and then set a trap, I was worried about flush but at that point I had to go big or go home. The chips all hit the middle on the turn I dodged the 9 outs and was poised to take it down.

Waffles was the next to go when I 3 bet him allin preflop and he called. The flop was horrendous for me and somehow I dodge his 12 outs and was heads up with a 4:1 chip lead.

Heads up didn't last that long I eventually won it when I flopped a flush in limped pot.

The M00k was last of the Bloggerment Tri-fecta for me. Although the MATH win was technically a 2nd we did chop the money 3 ways and the finish order was determined by an allin blind hand. The Riverchasers win did score me more dough through the TOC. The M00k sure felt good since it is Grand Daddy blogger tourney.

M00K!!!

Finally

House Update and Poker Crack!

We are Framing. Here is the view from the Front

Here is a view from the across the pond looking at the back

I played poker crack ($70/5 300 chip Super Turbos) last night and OMG! It makes our poosh fest look tight. Holy geez! I got lucky with cards, and double up with KK vs A10 and the stacked another dude when I re-raised him all in with my AK vs his AQ. At that point I had 1500 of the 2700 chips in played. I pretty much auto folded to the bubble and then I lost a race when called an all in with my A10 on the button. This brought all 4 of us to about the same, I then woke up with JJ and busted the bubble and the other guy busted the 3rd place. I still had about a 2 to 1 chip lead and dispatched him pretty quickly. I will take the $315 profit, since I used the FPP points to win the $26 toke and then parlayed it into the $75 toke. Now I just need to do that about 3 more times I will erase this weekends meltdown. Ahh but that is another story.

A Call To Arms!!

My fellow bloggers we are getting selectively screwed over. As much as I love to play at Full Tilt Poker (bonus code OSU) some of us are getting shafted. I like many of you have been playing at Full Tilt since the beginning and do not have a Rakeback. I thought my prayers had been answered when I stumbled across this this service Rakebackpros.com and I did some research on 2 plus 2 here is link and here is a link to FTPDoug on 2 plus 2 . I signed up with them on June 2nd and I waited with crossed fingers to see the rakeback.

Well it does seem that Rakebackpros.com has been able to offer a select few a rakeback, you have to be invited by Full Tilt. What a bunch of horse shit. Here are several emails that I sent and recieved yesterday.

Key points from the correspondence below:

"if you are selected to participate"

"this is not an issue which can be solved by opening another account with Full Tilt Poker, it is against our site policy to open more than one account. Though you could cease using your account, we do not remove it from our system, nor do we freeze accounts in order for players to create new ones."

"However, we do value your continued support of Full Tilt Poker, and weare currently looking into organizing something that will help players who arenot already attached to an affiliate. We have added your username to our files for further consideration. Please be patient."

Please link this up and lets see if we can get some answers, It is outrageous that some people can now get a rakeback while others can't.

Hello Shawn, As you have been informed in previous correspondence you will be contacted by Full Tilt Poker if you are selected to participate. We feel we have been more than accommodating in answering several emails from you on this subject in the past. At this time, we must advise you that, while we will be more than happy to answer your questions or concerns on any other topic, we will no longer be responding to any correspondence from you regarding receiving rakeback,

Regards,

I have been a very active in participating and publicizing all the blogger tournaments the we poker bloggers utilize on full tilt, and I was a proud member on team full tilt at the 2007
WSOP main event. I really think that I should be selected and don't want to
"excluded" from the benefits of a rakeback just because I not on some list. I do
have rakebacks on bodog and Pstars but choose to play on fulltilt because of the
way your site treated the poker blogging community.
Please consider inviting me
to participate with rakebackpro.com sooner than later.

It is my understanding that you have invited a "select few" that allready had an account through rakebackpros.com, why cant I be put on the invite list or at least afforded the opportunity that you have given to others that didnt have a rake back. i have been a strong advocate of full tilt and promoted it extensively on my blog. All I am asking is that you give me the same benefit that you have given others.

Hello Shawn,

Thank you for contacting Full Tilt Poker.
Full Tilt does not pay players rakeback directly. There are a number of rakeback affiliates who offer players up to 27% rakeback if they sign up to Full Tilt Poker through their site. >> >>Please note that this is not an issue which can be solved by opening another account with Full Tilt Poker, it is against our site policy to open more than one account.
